September 8, 2011 – Robots are normally perceived as a thing of the future. Not many people yet know that we may have the future now. Many countries all over the world are now designing and manufacturing their own version of simplified robotic machines that can perform simple tasks that humans can do.
A robot’s technical definition is that is an automatic device which is capable of performing many complex tasks with seemingly human intelligence. Robots are highly efficient but are devoid of sensibility.
True enough special robots such as Asimo as developed by Honda is actually designed to execute the primal nature of humans to walk up and down the stairs and along flat planes without falling off. Asimo may not have human brains but it certainly has artificial intelligence which is the counterpart of our own brains. It is in this artificial intelligence that the software that helps the robot maintains balance while walking.
Some robots such as those developed by a company in Korea are actually being tested to stay with 20 families in Korea and give the homeowners the accurate description of the news, monitoring and weather- forecast.
Japan is also developing their own kind of robot they call “Iris”, a “crawling robot that can slide across dirt floors and lift itself over plumbing and other pipes – designed to fit spaces 500 millimeters. These cool gadgets can reach into places that humans cannot.
Robots are not only fascinating to look at but really humbling to develop. The challenge of developing an artificial intelligence which will really embody a human person is difficult which is why robots are made to do a few simple tasks as they are not as finely-structured as humans.
The development of intelligent robots has come so far that they actually are able to learn new commands and innovate from that. Some robots are able to fully recognize its owners and develop a real relationship to human beings.
